Why did I become an Artist?

The answer is I had very little choice. Not over intelligent, but good at art, meant it had to be a starving artist or boring office job filing papers. When I was young, unless you could draw Superman really well and get a job on a comic, you had little hope of making it in the art world. My parents despaired and tried hard to get me into a safe job. It worked for a short while, then I got bored and went to college to train as a junior school teacher. Not a job for the feint hearted. In the end I settled for semi starvation and being a full time self employed artist. Nowadays it is very different, with the internet and their are many more opportunities . But I was born to early for all that. Anyway now I am at the other end of my life, living in wonderful Andalucía Spain, I am content. I do worry for new fine artists, the advent of AI art could seriously impact on creativity. I hope that Galleries,Art Shows and ways to show your individual creativity ,manage to survive the onslaught of digital technology.
